WORKSHOPS

Wednesday-Workshops in September / October 2024: Wednesday 7pm

Wednesday 11th of September, 7pm: IMPROVISATION FOR CLASSICS
Anyone who learns or has learned a classic instrument has acquired a variety of skills along the way. However, improvisation is usually of less importance. Often, own beliefs like “I can’t” prevent access to it. Such inhibitions can easily be reduced by simple game ideas. Individual online settings are currently being prepared in preparation for small groups.

Wednesday 18th of September, 7pm: SAXOPHONE
Saxophone is a wonderful instrument. Beginners can produce satisfying sounds in no time. The sound nuances can also be refined infinitely. In a group of saxophones there is a great overall sound, in which sometimes all the instruments fuse together, but also peculiarities can emerge. And playing in a group is just fun. In this workshop we want to work on the connection between individual and group sound and try out different forms of solo and collective improvisation.

Wednesday 25th of September, 7pm: URBAN BRASS
For wind instruments, it is often less satisfying to play alone. In this workshop we want to exploit the typical sound nuances of the individual wind instruments and use them to create an overall sound. Stylistically, the focus is on pop, but other styles and experimental things are also included. There is space for suggestions for improvisation and playing without notes

Wedneysday 9th of October, 7pm:
Band workshop for the instruments drums, bass, electric guitar and keyboards
You don’t play an instrument and have always wanted to play a band instrument? You play another instrument, maybe for a while, but you’ve always been interested in band instruments but never found an opportunity to try them out? Do you play a band instrument yourself and are you interested in what the other instruments around you in the band actually do and want to try it out? Come over then. All participants can try out all four band instruments alternately.
A beginners’ workshop in which the basic elements of the four band instruments drum, bass, electric guitar and keyboards are taught.

Costs: 25 to 50 euros per workshop (according to self-assessment)

Workshop series for professional musicians – November 2024, Thursdays at 11 a.m
Thu. November 14th, 11 a.m.: “I just want to play.” Acquisition – Marketing – Nerve
Thu. November 21st, 11 a.m.: “Music lessons again.” Music – lessons – frustration
Thu. November 28th, 11am: Let’s play and have fun (again)

Anyone who plays music professionally has turned their hobby into a career. There are various dangers: The enjoyment of music can diminish over the years. A high level of organizational things are necessary in addition to the actual activity of making music. And often all of this results in a rather limited financial income.

In the workshop series we want to devote ourselves to different aspects of our work.
Workshop languages: German / English
Open to professional musicians of various styles

Thu. November 14th, 11am: “I just want to play.”
But there is so much to organize. Money is tight. Self-marketing. Funding. Bread job? And then over the years the body also becomes noticeable, because playing an instrument is a very one-sided activity physically. Where is the joy in music? How can this be preserved or found again?

This workshop is aimed at professional musicians who have been active for a long time, know the ups and downs of this activity and want to exchange ideas in a trusting atmosphere and get ideas for their individual situation. A practical part rounds off the workshop, which is intended to encourage people to enjoy music.

Thu. November 21st, 11am: “Music lesson again.”
said many kids who were pushed into music lessons. But many music teachers also say this sentence to themselves (secretly) before their lessons. For professional musicians, giving lessons offers a relatively solid income. However, making your own music is often neglected. Since 2016, the Frizu Lounge has been testing slightly different ways of conveying music, which enable a high level of musicality for everyone involved. Grades, performance and practice are not the focus; instead, it’s all about inner experience, interaction and improvisation.
Based on the experiences of the Frizu Lounge, this workshop provides tips for a lively communication of music. In practice, the participants will try out materials from the Frizu Lounge themselves and use them as inspiration for their own work.

Thu. November 28th, 11am: Let’s play and have fun (again)
A whole range of small, fine original compositions have been created in the Frizu Lounge, which enable inspired music-making. The pieces, which are deliberately kept very simple, open up a large field for creativity and joy of playing even for laypeople. For professional musicians who are willing to get involved in the simple basic structures, they enable an endless field of expression and design possibilities and interaction with others through secondary voices and collective improvisations. Harmony, intuitive playing styles and looseness lead to lively music that brings joy to everyone involved.
A practical workshop for professional musicians that enables musical exchange with many nuances.

The workshop series is aimed at professional musicians, i.e. people who (want to) earn money with music and/or have undergone musical training (e.g. studies) and/or consider themselves to be professional musicians for other reasons consider.

The workshops can be attended as a series or individually.
